Police release name of diver who died in Mahia, Hawke’s Bay

Peter Reece Walker died on Sunday evening after a water-related incident at Mahia.

Police have released the name of the diver who died following a water-related incident in Mahia on Sunday.

He was 69-year-old Peter Reece Walker, from Mahia.

Police were called at 9.20pm on Sunday and notified that a man had died earlier in the evening following the incident off Wainuiorangi Rd on the Mahia Peninsula.

A police spokeswoman said the person was found in the water and no rescue was involved.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
