Te Rūnanga o Tūranganui a Kiwa’s Waitangi Day celebrations in Gisborne drew a crowd of all ages for an eclectic range of activities, from board games to bouncy castles.

Waitangi for our Rangatahi – For our Whānau was held from 10am to 2pm at the Event Centre at Showgrounds Park on Thursday.

A theme of the day was Ka Hao te Rangatahi, “the new net goes fishing” — a Māori proverb meaning it is a time for the youth.

A stage was set up for the music, while parents and tamariki enjoyed chess, Connect Four and more games set up in the centre.
