PAY WITH A SMILE: Cousins Calla Boyd, 6, (left) and Khyani Pineaha, 8, were handing out kindness on Wainui Road yesterday, giving away free bags of plums they picked, cleaned and bagged themselves. All they asked for in payment was a smile. Picture supplied

Calla’s mother Nardia Pineaha said the girls had the idea and she wanted them to learn a lesson in kindness.

“It is good for them to give something instead of receiving. They had 16 bags in total and once they were finished, I rewarded them with some treats.”

The girls had a feast of pizza and ice-blocks for spreading some kindness in Wainui Road.

“They were quite happy with that, I think it is a good lesson to learn. If you have a fruit tree in your backyard you might as well share it.”
