“I'm loving working from home,' said one of the 58 percent (122 out of 211 people) who gave a thumbs up from a safe distance to this week's webpoll question: “Are you ready and able to work from home?”

“I can have the washing on and the coffee's better here than at work but this is only day two. I'm guessing by the end of the lockdown we will all be ready for social contact again and I reckon we will come out better for it as well.”

One voter in the yes camp took a mixed view.

“Expect a lot of marriage break-ups to follow and the need for a new maternity hospital in December.”

Another respondent voted “yes” but found it hard to get any work done at home.

“My neighbours seem to think they are on some kind of extended holiday.”

The low number of respondents is reflected in the scarcity of comments.

“Nearly ready”, for instance, was the favoured observation by several of the seven voters (2 percent) in the “nearly ready” corner.

Those that made up the 40 percent (82 votes) who said “no” included the respondent who suffered “a massive loss of hours”.

“The job we work in, we can't work from home.”
