Recently our council decided to outsource the Rivers & Land Drainage department to a contracting company that has a base in Gisborne. Sadly the small loyal workforce, some of whom have been employed by the District Council for many years, were told that as from July 1 they will no
longer work for GDC and will have to re-negotiate their terms and conditions with their new employer.
To all of you out there who have dealt with this team, may you join me and wish this dedicated bunch of guys all the best in the future and a big thank you for your time and effort keeping our rivers and drains to a standard we can be proud of as a community. Some of us appreciate your efforts.
