There was a total of 674 sheep sent for sale yesterday at the Matawhero saleyards and the yarding consisted mainly of old season prime lambs and new season store lambs.

The consignment of 382 store, freshly weaned, black face lambs from Kainga Farm, at Ngatapa, sold from $85 down to $54, averaging $71.91.

Ohuka Farm (Otoko) Ltd and The Naumai Farm Trust each sold old season prime lambs for $139.

The best price paid for heavy prime ewes was $87, sold on account of Lucy G Larsen.

Rams, suitable for dog tucker, sold from $77 down to $67.

Best prices: prime lambs (old season): Ohuka Farm (Otoko) Ltd, 11, $139; The Naumai Farm Trust, 18, $139; Matuku Trust, 5, $126; Raewyn A Bruce, 6, $120; Kerley Agriculture Ltd, 15, $114; Lorraine Ward, 5, $106; IH & LJ Kirkpatrick, 9, $105.  Store ram lambs: Kainga Farm, 50, $85, 91, $72.50, 70, $65, 11, $54.  Store ewe lambs: Kainga Farm, 72, $80, 88, $65.  Ewes with lambs at foot (all counted): Karanga Station, four ewes and  nine lambs, $70.
