Covid was an expensive
exercise with New Zealand choosing to spend on saving lives, MIQ, vaccinations, Covid tests, wage subsidies to keep jobs, and shovel-ready projects to keep our economy active.
I’m satisfied that money was spent for the good of us all and our economy was touted as one of the best in the OECD along with our Covid-19 response and low mortality rates.
In addition, New Zealand would have been in surplus had we not had a series of cyclones and damaging weather events earlier this year.
The costs of these are tremendous and will take time and more money to fix several areas of Aotearoa.
I was happy to be able to get to Napier only a few months after roads and bridges being taken out.
All in all, I think we have the right Government in place and they should be rewarded as they kept our economy from totally tanking.
We can’t afford unfunded landlord tax subsidies.
