The council has received all appropriate authorities, including approval from Heritage NZ, for the Titirangi Summit Redevelopment Project.

The report on geotech for the site was presented last July. The observatory is being removed as it sits on fill, making it susceptible to movement, whereas the gun emplacement was built on the original land. The gun emplacement is not being removed, it will remain on the maunga and be tidied up before October.
