Police have released the name of the Wairoa man who died of wounds sustained in a hunting accident at Nuhaka on Sunday afternoon.

He was Troy Michael Ormond, 21, of Wairoa.

The tragedy occurred in a maize paddock on the seafront at Nuhaka.

Police have confirmed the man’s hunting companion was a family member.

“We have extended our condolences to the family at this tragic time.”
