A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.
Opinion
Good news that Air New Zealand plans to increase the capacity of flights between Wellington and Gisborne and Auckland and Gisborne, and reduce prices. This will not only benefit locals but also increase the likelihood of tourists making the trip here.
But what will they do at the end of
their sojourn — fly back to Wellington or Auckland? Wouldn’t it be great if they had the opportunity for a scenic rail journey to Napier to continue their tour?
This potential boost to Gisborne as a tourist destination cannot have been overlooked by Tourism Eastland and they must surely have contributed the view to Activate Tairawhiti during the consultation period for the Regional Economic Action Plan. That’s right, isn’t it, Mr Perry?
