No Covid deaths, 38 active cases in Tairāwhiti last week

Thirty-eight active cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Tairāwhiti in the week ending midnight on Sunday.

Te Whatu Ora recorded 51 deaths that week — none in Tairāwhiti.

In all, Tairāwhiti has recorded 25,410 case of Covid and 39 deaths.

The country recorded 5894 active cases in the week to Sunday and an overall total of 2,491,809 cases and 3464 deaths.

At midnight on Sunday, 212 Covid patients were in various hospitals around the country — five in ICU.

Of the 51 deaths, four were from Northland, 14 from Auckland, two from Waikato, two from Tauranga, one from Rotorua-Taupo, four from Hawke’s Bay, six from Wellington, eight from Canterbury and 10 from Otago-Southland.

Thirty-one were women, 20 men.

They ranged in age from their 30s  (one)  to over 90 (21).
