Muriwai farmer Geoff Tombleson was awarded Life Membership of the Gisborne A and P Show Association at the association's annual general meeting on Thursday night.

“Geoff has been active in support of the Spring Show for more than 40 years,” said re-elected President Rob Telfer.

Mr Tombleson was heavily involved in the equestrian side of the show over those years, also in the wool and sheep sections.

“He has never been on the executive, but he has always been there at the working bees. Right through the years he has been so committed to the Show,” Mr Telfer said.

“I am honoured to receive it,” Geoff said.

“My father Peter started it off with his lifelong commitment, and I just followed his example.”
