There were 2394 sheep sent for sale at Matawhero yesterday — almost all were store lambs and came from the Matawai and Te Karaka districts.

Waikohu Station sold pens of Wiltshire ewe lambs for $155, $140 and $120.

KJ and RE Fisher at Motu topped the store male lambs, selling a pen of 208 cryptorchid lambs for $142.

These quality, woolly lambs were of good size and carrying plenty of condition.

There were several pens of later-born lambs, selling from $80 down to $40, for those who wanted to buy lambs for slaughter in the early spring.
