There was a steady flow of logs across the wharf for the month of August with nine ships taking just short of 200,000 tonnes of logs from the region.
“We also had the Rangitata berth on Wharf 7 for the first time since it has been rebuilt, with 2000 tonnesof fertiliser imported and another delivery due later this month,” an Eastland Port spokeswoman said.
This month the port expects 11 log ships to berth.
“So we are hoping for more settled weather,” she said.
“It was great to see the return of the Albatros, which worked around the wharves and shipping channel to clear naturally accumulating sediment.”
The Albatros departed on Wednesday after a successful campaign and will now be heading down to Lyttelton for a service.
“We ended the month on a high after opening the gates to the community for Wharf Wheels. It was so much fun we are looking forward to hosting more unique events like this in the future.”
