Market lifts for larger lambs at Matawhero saleyards

There were a total of 2181 sheep yarded yesterday at the Matawhero saleyards, almost all store lambs.

The market took a significant lift for the larger store male lambs.

CNA and JM Marr, at Te Wera, sent in a total of 1222 store male lambs and they were a quality line-up. Their best pen of 86 sold for $149.

KJ and RE Fisher, at Motu, sold a total of 515 woolly store ewe lambs. Their top pick of 125 sold for $112. All store ewe lambs and smaller lambs were sold at recent values.

The market is predicted to strengthen in the coming weeks as the meat schedule rises and more paddocks of young grass become ready for grazing.
