Fire crews were called to Elm Street in Mangapapa and Williams Street off Roebuck Road last night after powerlines started arcing.
It happened at around 7.30pm and then again at 7.50pm.
The firefighters stood by until Eastland Network faults staff arrived to deal with the respective problems.
