THE moustached men of Woodward Chrisp agree with the sentiments of a Daily Mail poll, which shows 80 percent of women admit to loving “a tache’’ on a man — or at least when its grown for charity.

Michael Gordon, Adam Simperingham, Noel Gray, Ross Revington, Michael Lynch and William Eivers all participated in Movember.

One of the “Woodward Chrisp Six”, who declined to be named, said they had received some flattering comments from their female colleagues.

He did complain that his moustache was unpleasant and prickly, but it was all done for a great cause, supporting men’s health, and in particular, prostate cancer.

Movember 2015 also helped foster “male solidarity’’ at a work place where men were no longer the significantly smaller minority they had often been in the past, he said.

The men have reached for their razor since the end of the month.

Woodward Chrisp was one of 600 corporate entries among the 1000 team entries in Movember 2015.

More than 6000 individual men agreed to grow a moustache while 900 women also supported the cause.

About $760,000 was raised during the month, with Movember forecasting the total to reach $1.1 million this year once all corporate donations have been received.

Robert Dunne, New Zealand manager of the Movember Foundation, said they were overwhelmed by the commitment shown from New Zealanders across the country and as far away as Antarctica.

“We want to thank New Zealanders for their support, which stretched far beyond the realms of simple fundraising.”

Donations can be accepted right up until Christmas at nz.movember.com.

“Every little bit counts towards making an everlasting impact on the state of men’s health in New Zealand,” said Mr Dunne.

Funds raised go towards programmes focused on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.
