Puketoro Station inland from Tokomaru Bay will stage its eighth annual on-farm sale on Tuesday, January 9 with 6000 sheep, 700 15-month-old steers and 40 cows with calves at foot on offer.

The auction starts at midday that day, at 2754 Ihungia Road, Tokomaru Bay.

McNeil Farming’s sheep offering includes 2500 two-tooth Perendale/Romney cross ewes, 500 two-tooth Coopdale ewes, 2500 five-year Romdale ewes and 500 five-year Coopworth ewes.

“The flock docked 155 percent ewes to the ram this season,” said Shane Scott from Central Livestock.

“The five-year ewes docked at 170 percent.”

The 700 15-month Angus steers will be drafted into weight ranges.

“Based on weighing to date, the approximate breakdown will be 420kg-plus, 390-420kg, 350-390kg, and 320-350kg,” he said.

The station’s Angus bloodlines include Turihaua, Ngaputahu, Totaranui and Seven Hills.

“The cattle will be sold 30 minutes after the conclusion of the sheep.”

A lunch and light refreshments will also be provided.

“Those who travel to the sale will again enjoy top-notch hospitality,” Shane said.

Online bidding will be available on the day through Bidr.

“McNeil Farming is proud to be able to offer buyers an outstanding line-up of ewes, steers, cows and calves,” Mr Scott said.

“Off the high country at the foot of Mount Hikurangi, buyers can have confidence in the ability of stock from Puketoro Station to shift well.”

Attendees have been asked to use the Ihungia Road, which will be signposted, as trucks could be using the Mata Road.
