Gisborne and Ruatoria-based Rua Bioscience has signed a two-year distribution agreement with United Kingdom pharmaceutical distributor Target Healthcare.

“This agreement marks a crucial step in Rua Bioscience’s commitment to broadening its international presence and ensuring the accessibility of its premium medicinal cannabis products on a global scale,” said Rua Bioscience chief executive Paul Naske.

“Leveraging the extensive network of Target Healthcare, Rua Bioscience aims to distribute its products across the United Kingdom, capitalising on this rapidly growing medicinal cannabis market.

“This partnership with Target Healthcare is a significant step in the journey of our company. It represents a crucial step in establishing our brand and cultivating a robust presence in the UK medicinal cannabis market.

"Target Healthcare is an ideal distribution partner for Rua Bioscience, focusing specifically on the niche segment of the pharmaceutical sector where medicinal cannabis holds a significant position.

"Rua Bioscience remains focused on its strategy of establishing distribution channels in key export markets and distributing our unique Tairawhiti east coast cannabis varieties in these markets."

Meanwhile, the company has appointed its first Australian employee.

John Sanders was appointed as the chief of sales and marketing for Australia, marking what Mr Naske described as a “pivotal moment”.

“Mr Sanders, with a rich background in the cannabis sector, brings a wealth of experience to Rua Bioscience. His noteworthy three-year tenure at Cannasouth Bioscience, a NZ-based medicinal cannabis company, coupled with his extensive commercial experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including roles at Roche, Bayer, Merk and Sharp & Dome, uniquely positions him for success in this dynamic role.

“As Rua Bioscience embarks on strategic expansion in the Australian market, Mr Sanders will play a crucial role in overseeing sales and marketing operations from Melbourne. His appointment is a key step in our strategy to broaden our presence and reach in growing the Australian medicinal cannabis market.

“The appointment of John as chief of sales and marketing for Australia is a significant milestone for Rua Bioscience. His impressive pharmaceutical and industry track record align seamlessly with our growth strategy in Australia. “

Under John’s leadership, we are confident in the success of our sales and marketing endeavours in this strategically important market”.
