Lockdown at Beetham for gastric bug

Beetham Lifestyle Village went into “lockdown” yesterday after a number of residents presented with gastroenteritis.

A district health board spokesman said the lockdown was “normal procedure” in such cases.

The situation was being closely monitored.

Families had been adviseda and residents were being treated “accordingly”.

No other aged care facilities had been affected and no further details were yet available.

A Beetham spokeswoman said the lockdown was a precautionary measure and visitors would not be allowed.
