Re: Bevan Moore’s letter of November 2 (Clean-up penalties). I concur with his comments.

On a recent trip to the Australian state of Tasmania, my wife and I were greeted throughout our driving holiday with large signs on both the National Highway and Regional Freight Roads saying: “There is a $400 fine for littering. Please report on this number...........”

On our 1650km journey on both networks, we encountered three litter items. No Nanny State there!
