There are currently 35 active cases of Covid-19 in Tairāwhiti, according to official figures up to midnight on Sunday.
That takes the region’s total number of Covid cases to 25,372 including 39 deaths.

Of the 44 deaths reported in the week to Sunday: two were from Northland, eight were from Auckland, three were from Waikato, one was from Rotorua-Taupo, one from Tauranga, six from Hawke’s Bay, one from Taranaki, four were from Manawatu-Horowhenua, five from Wellington, six were from Canterbury, seven were from Otago and Southland.
One was in their 40s, four were in their 60s, eight were in their 70s, 19 were in their 80s and 12 were aged over 90. Of these people, 18 were women and 24 were men.
