Knowing our history is important

A special thank you to those who compiled the very informative article “Wharekauri, Rekohu” (June 4), giving us a true understanding of history of Poverty Bay as we should accept it with regards to the injustices imposed on our native population. It is time we as a population accept the negative aspects of our history and willingly understand the pain we created.
