The first of nine scheduled visits by refrigerated cargo ships to Gisborne to take away local kiwifruit has been cancelled due to the amount of crop available for shipment. The first scheduled kiwifruit ship is now due on March 18, with its name yet to be confirmed.

Charter ship export from Gisborne was to have started this weekend.

The harvest began here this week.
