GISBORNE has retained a place on an influencial national advisory body, and with it an improved chance to highlight the region’s infrastructural needs.
Finance Minister Bill English this week welcomed the reappointment of Eastland Group director and Activate Tairawhiti chairman John Rae to the National Infrastructure Advisory Board, which aims
to build industry understanding of the need for a coordinated approach to infrastructure development.
Mr Rae became a board member in 2014 and had “substantial experience” in the infrastructure, energy, waste and investment sectors.
Mr Rae told The Gisborne Herald that the role would not interfere with his existing positions.
“I don’t expect anything will change with regards my Eastland Group or Activate Tairawhiti roles, except perhaps provide an even better platform for me to help get the issues and opportunities that the Tairawhiti region faces/presents onto Wellington’s radar screen.”
