Moves are again being made to ensure the region’s children stay snug and warm this winter.

Jammies 4 June Gizzy is heading into its seventh year and donations are being taken now, organiser Cassandra Blumfield says.

“Jammies 4 June is a winter fundraising drive which collects new pyjamas and warm winter items to give to children in need across our community.

“Last year was a huge success with over 1500 items given out to children across Gisborne/East Coast.

“With the impact of Cyclone Gabrielle, the need this year is one of the highest, with many more families needing help.

“We understand that so many businesses and community members will be affected and may not be able to contribute to Jammies 4 June.

“However, we are hopeful that there are still many people out there who will be in a position to help, even if it means spreading the word near and far.”

Donations of new pyjamas in sizes 0 to 14 years, socks, hats and winter thermals will be gratefully accepted.
