Police took three young people into custody on Saturday night after an incident at Rutene Road, Kaiti, in which an attempt was allegedly made to steal a car.
Police said the occupants of the property discovered a group of people at about 4.30am and an altercation ensued.
“One person received
a moderate injury in the altercation and two others received minor injuries,” police said.
Police arrived a short time later and got descriptions of those in the group.
Three people were taken into custody nearby.
