A motorcyclist was hurt in a crash at Tolaga Bay yesterday, one of a string of road crashes emergency services were called to over the weekend.

The other incidents involved only minor injuries.

The first happened at 3am on Sunday morning when a car collided with a parked car in Dalrymple Road in Riverdale, with two people treated for minor injuries as a result.

A second crash, also involving a vehicle hitting a parked vehicle, happened in De Lautour Road in Kaiti at 10.50am on Sunday.

One person with minor injuries, the sole occupant of the moving vehicle, was treated from that incident.

Then at 11.17pm on Sunday night emergency services were called to State Highway 35 just south of Tolaga Bay where a people mover had crashed.

“The vehicle left the road and rolled, to end up on its roof in a ditch,” a senior firefighter said.

“One or two of the four people in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.”

A woman was hurt at the Tolaga Bay wharf yesterday afternoon when her car began to roll away from where she had parked it.

“The woman tried to get back into the vehicle and sustained injuries to her foot and head,” Tolaga Bay chief fire officer Ray Dever said.

The ECT chopper was called and she was flown to Gisborne Hospital.

Later in the afternoon the chopper was called back to the Bay after a motorcylist crashed on Wharf Road.

“He had moderate injuries to his pelvis and shoulder.”

He was picked up by the ECT chopper and flown to Gisborne Hospital for treatment.
