GISBORNE District Council has been sending out infringement notices to those dog owners around Tairawhiti who have not yet registered their dogs for the 2021-22 year.
“So far we have sent out just over 700 infringement notices for unregistered dogs,” district council animal control team leader Ross Hannam said
Thecouncil has more than 11,600 dogs on its database.
Reminder notices were sent out to dog owners in late September/early October and now enforcement action has started.
