Our Turanganui Syndicate Tekau ma Rua roopu would like to sincerely thank the following people for their support of our leadership trip to Wellington last weekend to watch the All Blacks vs Wales game. The learning we achieved through fundraising and planning this amazing experience, and the values involved, were
immeasurable.
We are extremely grateful to Turanga Ararau and Turanga Health for sponsoring our mini vans and petrol, to Jo and Carolyn from The Sugar Kitchen who allowed us to do delicious donut fundraisers, to everyone who donated goods and came along to buy from our garage sales and hangi, and finally a huge mihi to our whanau and friends who got right in behind us too. We are truly grateful to you all.
Our highlights were a visit to Te Papa where we listened to kaumatua retell Paikea and Rona and the Moon, paid our respect to Te Hau ki Turanga through a haka and waiata, lunch at Karaka Cafe, a hui with Koka Helen Potiki regarding her work in New York with the United Nations, and a quick stop at Laser Tag before donning our black gear to support our heroes.
The final highlight of the evening was getting to meet and take photos with a number of All Blacks, including Kieran Read, Dane Coles, TJ Perenara and Ardie Savea, and doing Panapana for them at the end of the game.
Our tamariki could not believe their luck and were inspired and proud to have been a part of this fantastic experience. Nga mihi nui ki a koutou katoa mo o koutou aroha ki a matou.
