Tawa Hills Angus at Motu enjoyed a total clearance in their rising two-year-old bull sale at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday morning to keep the high clearance rate going among the Tairāwhiti studs.

Blair and Paige Crawshaw sold nine out off 11 at auction for a top price of $8000, and then sold the remaining two bulls by private negotiation.

The auction sale average was $6444.

“It was a good sound sale,” said auctioneer Neville Clark.

“The bulls presented were really good, with plenty of growth left in them.

“For a new stud that’s developing, Blair and Paige are doing very well.”

Mr Crawshaw said he and his wife were very pleased with the result.

“We’re real happy with how the bulls are developing — our breeding seems to be paying off.

“We’re hoping to have some sons from the bull we purchased from Whangara Angus last year, in our lineup for 2025.

“He has held up really well and we’re really happy with how he is performing.”

They purchased the bull for $92,000, which was only $500 short of the top price paid in New Zealand last sales season for an Angus bull.
