Corson Grain started its annual maize harvest on Monday and the good weather helped with the start to the season.
“Our yields are looking around average at this stage, but the quality of the maize looks good,” Corson procurement manager Richard Hyland said.
Corson Grain will harvest around 17,000 tonnesthis season. The grain maize harvest looks set to run into late June. Gisborne’s other major grain maize producer expects to start harvest in a couple of weeks.
