Relay for Life is coming around fast.

Registrations are now open for the 2026 Gisborne-East Coast Cancer Society Relay for Life scheduled at the A and P Showgrounds on the weekend of March 14 and 15.

Relay for Life, which always enjoys strong community support and participation in Tairāwhiti, has returned to being an annual event after the testing times of Covid-19 and severe weather events.

Registrations can be made at https://gisborne.relayforlife.org.nz/

Registration will cost $150 for a team of 10, and $15 for additional team members.

Campsite allocations open in mid-January.

The first team or captains meeting will be held at the Cancer Society (718 Gladstone Rd) on January 21, from 5.30pm.

Volunteers are sought, as always, to help Relay for Life run smoothly. Those interested in helping can contact Cancer Society volunteer co-ordinator Gillian Stevenson on 022 302 3413.

There is also an opportunity for a sports or community organisation to raise funds by organising the car park over the weekend.

Those who may be interested or require other Relay for Life information are welcome to contact Cancer Society fundraising and events co-ordinator Shay Podjursky on 022 471 8778.
