A scenic walk through a Gisborne garden to raise money for a good cause might just be the ticket for those with green thumbs.

Bruce and Vivienne Smith will open up their garden to the public next month to raise funds for the Cancer Society.

Their garden is a short drive from central Gisborne at 331 Valley Rd, opposite Dryden St.

The fundraiser will take place from 9.30am to 4.30pm on November 22.

Entry will be $2, and 30% of all sales from Bruce’s wooden creations will be donated to the Cancer Society’s Lions Lodge in Hamilton.

Bruce had previously stayed there during treatment and wanted to give back, he told the Gisborne Herald.

The Gisborne Herald visited the impressive garden on Tuesday and also got to view some of Bruce’s woodturning creations.

Vivienne is active in the gardening scene in Gisborne, Bruce said, and there was often interest from the “gardening ladies” in their garden.

Now there was a chance to take a look around, he said.
