DAY one of the Tux North Island and New Zealand sheep dog trials in Northland ended yesterday with four triallists from this region on leaderboards.
Colin Bayliss and Tahi and Andrew Savage and Ruby — both from Ngatapa — were in the top seven in the zig zag hunt.

Ruie Bridge and Cash were on the board in the straight hunt, along with Wairoa’s Fraser Taylor and Waite.
“It was beautiful weather,” said trials spokeswoman Donna Halley.
“The sheep worked well on all courses.”
