Four people were taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash at Bushmere Rd in Waerenga-a-Hika on Wednesday afternoon.

One of the vehicles ended up overturned in a nearby corn paddock.

Police, rel="" title="https://www.nzherald.co.nz/topic/fire-and-emergency-nz/">firefighters and St John ambulance attended the incident at around 3.55pm.

“There were no serious injuries,” a senior firefighter said. “One of the vehicles was parked when the crash occurred.”

A St John spokesman said four people suffered minor to moderate injuries and were transported to Gisborne Hospital.

A police inquiry is under way.
