A car with four people in it rolled on State Highway 2 north of Te Karaka yesterday morning.

The occupants, two adults and two children, were all transported to Gisborne Hospital by St John ambulance.

The crash happened at around 7am about a kilometre north of Holdsworths Bridge.

“The car rolled and went into a ditch,” a senior firefighter said.

The highway was down to one lane at the scene for a time while the patients were tended to and the crash scene cleared.

Police have an inquiry under way.

■ The emergency services were called to the top of Panikau Hill on State Highway 35 at around 9.30am on Friday after a ute and car collided.

An emergency services spokesman said the people in one of the vehicles suffered some minor injuries.
