Gisborne woman Amanda Hadfield took 18-month-old Roamin under her wing a while back after forestry workers found the dog abandoned in a local forest.

Now she wants to find a new home for him, so Roamin can live a normal dog’s life.

“It’s a lovely heart-warming story how the dog came into my care,” Amanda said.

“He had been abandoned in the forest as a youngster.

“Forestry workers initially saw him tied up to a pole in the bush, thought he was owned and left him there.

“They saw him a few weeks later running loose in the forest, and were eventually able to catch him.

“They gave him to me to look after because he was traumatised and beyond their capability to help him. Without them the dog would probably have died.”

Now the medium-sized Labrador/Greyhound cross has been nursed back to full health.

“He’s looking terrific,” Amanda said. “Roamin has been desexed and microchipped, and now is ready to roam no more — to find a new home where he can be treasured.

“It’s time for him to have a normal dog’s life, and I hope someone will want to take him into foster care.

“He’s ready for a forever home.”

Anyone interested in doing so can call 021-151-0467.
