First dawn for Oakview

The foundations for the first house in Gisborne’s biggest new residential development in 15 years have been laid.

Contractors Quebik carried out the first concrete pour for the first house to be built at the new Oakview development on Hansen Road.

Builder Gavin Papworth said the 227sqm three-bedroom, three-bathroom house, would be finished  before Christmas.

Mr Papworth said he had already had inquiries from other clients planning to build new homes in the subdivision.

The development allows for 200 houses to be built.

Fifty-seven sections have sold and a further 19, ranging in size from 451sqm to 1535sqm, are available for sale through Ray White.

The development is named for an oak tree which has stood for more than 80 years on the land. New rows of pin oaks will line the streets of Oakview and a recreational reserve has been created  around the tree.
