Heavy rain has slowed progress on Waikura Road, but culvert clearing and replacement have started.
At Waione Road, water tabling, scour repairs, and pavement widening will continue, followed by culvert clearing and metalling before the end of this month.
These works are expected to take between two and three weeks.
In Uawa, metalling of Mata Road and Tuakau Road has been completed and drain clearing continues on Waiau, Parapara and Arero roads.
Work continues on Horehore Road where good progress has been made between the 1.7km mark to the 1.99km mark. Four wheel drive access is now possible.
Culvert replacement work will continue on Kopuaroa Road this week, weather dependent.
Dropout and retreat work continues along the lower Mata Road this week and is due to start in the upper section.
The road closure of Waipiro Road will continue until June 22, between 8.30am to 4pm daily.
Work will start on Waikawa Road once repairs to Waipiro Road get finished.
In the Waipaoa district 3300 tonnes of road metal has been laid on Paparatu, Waimaha, Whakarau, Goodwin and Hokoroa roads with work continuing at Whakarau, Hokoroa and Te Weraroa roads.
Drainage work continues along Pehiri, Whakarau, Wharekopae, Hokoroa, Tiniroto, Waingake and Taumata roads this week.
Asphalt pothole repairs continue at Mangatu, Armstrong, Wharekopae, Waingake and Lytton roads.
Drop out repairs are under way on Bailie Road and should take two to three weeks.
Work continues on Bushy Knoll Road but river levels are still too high to bring in the metal. This is being monitored daily.
Work continues on the sheet pile retaining structure at Gentle Annie on Tiniroto Road. The weather is causing continual slipping and slowing progress.
Culvert replacement and rock revetment continues on Paparatu Road.
Stock truck access on Ruakaka Road is advised during dry weather only, as “dig outs” and spot metalling continues, weather dependent.
Work continues at the significant dropout on Wharekopae Road near the 44km mark. This is expected to take another month.
Contractors are now 84 percent through removing wood debris from bridges. This work is continuing this week at Waingake, Hihiroroa and Moanui roads.
Work is continuing to create a rock bag island at the Awapapa-GlenInnes Crossing, to the centre of the river, to instal the fixing pier for a temporary access bridge.
A Bailey bridge is being installed on State Highway 35 across the Awatere River to replace the Awatere Bridge at Te Araroa. This is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
The council hopes to have access restored to Makarika Bridge for light vehicles next week.
Weather has delayed work on the Mangaheia Bridge No. 1, 2 and 3 on Tauwhareparae Road but this was expected to start this week and take until early July to complete.
Detours are in place as work continues at Ngarimu Bridge on the Waiomatatini Road. This is expected to take two to three weeks.
Work at Oliver Bridge on Oliver Road at Matawai starts this week.
Repairs also start this week, weather dependent, on Mossman’s Bridge on Ruakaka Road.
Another project beginning this week is at Steeles Bridge on Pehiri Road. This will take three to four weeks to complete.
River levels are still too high to get to Te Kowhai Causeway and revetment in Whatatutu. Investigation of an alternative route is under way.
On the Waimata Valley Road rock revetment and concrete reinforcing started yesterday on the box culvert at the 17.8km mark. Motorists are advised of delays of up to 15 minutes for the next six weeks.
High river levels have slowed progress at the Whakoau Bridge, on Mata Road (Upper). Work to protect the piles will be completed by the end of June.
