A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

Police and the Trust Tairāwhiti rescue helicopter were called out yesterday morning amid concerns for a farmer missing on a farm property at the top of East Cape.

They were in the process of heading there to search for him at around 7.40am yesterday morning.

“A report came in at around that time that the man had been found by family members, and that he was injured,” an emergency services spokesman said.

The chopper crew flew to a farm in the Potaka area to treat him and he was flown to hospital with what were described as moderate injuries.

“The farmer had been out on a quad bike when the mishap occurred. He was located off a farm track.”
