Re: November 7 letter.

Martin Hanson continues to feel threatened by those who acknowledge that there is a loving Creator who made us for Himself. He has a plan for our lives which belong to Him.

Those who believe in the Creator know where they have come from, know why we are here and know where they are going. Those who believe in God have an appreciation of the dignity and value of every human life. Every life has value, there is no such thing as a life that is not worth living.

Martin raises the suicide in 2013 of Edna Gluys, an 85-year-old Wellingtonian. The coroner, Ian Smith expresed approval of her suicide. It is appalling when a coroner expresses approval of suicide, which infers that she had a right to kill herself. There were 685 suicides in New Zealand in 2018.

The Government has an excellent Suicide Prevention Strategy to eliminate suicide in New Zealand which deserves the full support of Parliament and the community.

Support for the strategy is incompatible with support of the End of Life Choice Bill. I fully support the strategy — does Martin?
