E nga whānau and community of the Tairāwhiti region.

Ka nui te mihi ki a koutou kua tauawhi ki a matau whanau, ahakoa nga piki me nga heke ka titiro angawhakamua matau.

As the former Race Relations Commissioner, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Your warm embrace, support and collaboration throughout my time in office have been truly remarkable. The spirit of whānau and community that radiates from Tairāwhiti is an inspiration to us all.

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside you, advocating for inclusive and harmonious relations. Your resilience, cultural heritage and commitment to unity have left an indelible mark on my journey as the Race Relations Commissioner.

From the rolling hills to the beautiful coastline, I have witnessed first-hand the strength and mana of the people of Tairāwhiti. Your unwavering kindness, generosity and trust in me have fuelled my dedication to championing your important issues.

Through our interactions, I have learned invaluable lessons from your unique perspectives and cultural traditions. The depth of knowledge and wisdom within the whānau and community of Tairāwhiti has enriched me personally and professionally.

As I reflect on my time serving as the Race Relations Commissioner, I cannot help but acknowledge the profound impact that Tairāwhiti has had on my work and my life. The shared moments, the shared stories and the shared aspirations have forged bonds that will endure.
