Police, Fire and Emergency NZ, St John ambulance and the Corrections Department staged a successful recruitment demonstration session for local secondary school students yesterday at Harry Barker Reserve. Up to 100 students watched from the reserve grandstand while emergency crews removed an injured person from a crashed car in amocked-up emergency situation. As part of the exercise, the students were told about career prospects in the emergency services.
“It was all well received by the kids,” a spokesman for the event said. “It was a well worthwhile morning.”
