Re: Boat trailer parking.
Every Saturday and Sunday there will be about 80 boats launched, which means 80 parks are needed for the trailers plus another 80 for the towing vehicle. As it is quite absurd to expect 160 parks to be occupied for eight to 10 hours a day,
I have a simple solution to the problem.
The District Council must pass a by-law completely banning the parking of boat trailers anywhere in the harbour vicinity.
After all, we are trying to make the harbour area an attractive city centre just as they have at Circular Quay in Sydney, so we definitely do not want a gaggle of ugly boat trailers. I certainly don’t want any of my rate money wasted on this self-inflicted problem.
On a competition day, if 100 boaties expect to find 200 parks for their vehicles and trailers, I am afraid they will be in crapper’s ditch in leaky boots.
