As Easter weekend approaches, the Tiniroto township is abuzz with eager anticipation for the 20th anniversary of the Tiniroto Easter Game Hunt.

The event promises a larger-than-life celebration of hunting heritage and community spirit.

Under the new leadership of Rob Cameron, it is set to redefine itself, offering attendees an experience that combines tradition with innovation.

Organisers say they have pulled out all the stops to ensure the milestone anniversary is one to remember.

“One of the most significant upgrades to this year’s event is the relocation to a larger venue, providing ample space for participants and spectators alike.

“Additionally, increased off-street parking has been arranged to alleviate any logistical concerns, allowing attendees to focus on enjoying the festivities,” Mr Cameron said.

“The heart of the Tiniroto Easter Game Hunt lies in its displays of hunting achievements, and this year’s event promises to impress with more purpose-built rails to showcase the entries of red deer stags, wild boars, goat heads, possums, rabbits and hares.

“The junior section, in particular, will highlight the talents of young hunters, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment within the community.”

Also on offer will be a host of free entertainment options, including bouncy castles and face painting.

Tiniroto School will host a gold coin entry obstacle course.

“We have taken this event that has been so successful over the last 20 years to a whole new level,” Mr Cameron said.

“Our goal is to create an unforgettable experience for everyone while showcasing the best of what our community has to offer.

“Generous sponsorship has allowed organisers to offer up to $20,000 worth of prizes this year.

“The support of local businesses underscores the event’s importance within the community and ensures that participants have the chance to walk away with fantastic rewards,” Mr Cameron said.

Registrations can be done through QR codes, online platforms or entry forms available at Tyre General in Gisborne.

Entries close at 5pm on Thursday, March 28, with hunting beginning then and concluding at midday on Sunday, March 31, followed by the weigh-in at 3pm.
