Driver in fatal crash named

Police have released the name of the truck driver who died following a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 35 south of Te Araroa early last week.

He was Neill McDonald, aged 64, of Cape Runaway.

Police have extended their condolences to Mr McDonald’s whānau at this difficult time.

The serious crash investigation into the circumstances of the crash continues.

The six-wheeler truck Mr McDonald was driving failed to take a bend, left the road and crashed into trees.

He was cut free from the truck by firefighters, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
