At least 40 sheepdogs will go under the auctioneer's hammer on Saturday in the Whatatutu Dog Trial Club's annual sale.
The auction takes place on Otara Station with viewing from 10am and the sale under way from midday.
“Each dog will be put through its paces with some sheep as
part of the auction process, “ a dog trial club spokesman said.
The heading dogs will be sold first and then the huntaways.
Last year the top priced huntaway sold for $8000, and the top heading dog went for $6500.
