Delays expected for crash inquiry

Tatapouri Hill on State Highway 35 will be under stop/go management on Tuesday, February 12 between 9am and 11am, the New Zealand Transport Agency has advised.

This is to allow the NZ Police Serious Crash Unit to carry out further investigations into a fatal crash at the site in November last year.

The investigation will be subject to weather conditions.

“There will also be a 30kmh temporary speed limit for vehicles passing through the site while the investigation takes place,” a spokesperson said.

Motorists should expect some delays and allow extra time for their journey.

“The NZ Transport Agency wants to thank road users for their understanding and patience.”

It is understood the investigation relates to a fatal crash on November 10, in which a female motorist died after the car she was driving came into collision with a loaded logging truck on the Tatapouri side of Makorori Hill.

Emergency services were called to the crash scene at 8.28am. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
