Death of man in street ‘not suspicious’

Another of the city’s street people has died.

Police responded to reports of a man unconscious on the ground in Peel Street at around 3.40pm on Monday.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner,” police said.

“For privacy reasons we are unable to provide or confirm the name of the man.”

It follows the death of a street person last month.

A man in his 60s was pulled out of the Turanganui River by the Cenotaph by police, but could not be revived.
